Nonlinear Microstructure Fibers
نویسنده
چکیده
Due to the long interactive length that light has with the glass media of an optical fiber there tend to be nonlinear optical effects. With the advent of microstructure fibers it is possible to tailor the fiber to reduce or enhance the nonlinear effect of light propagating down a fiber. This paper will give an overview on microstructure fibers and how they are used in nonlinear optics application.

On the overall behavior, microstructure evolution, and macroscopic stability in reinforced rubbers at large deformations: II—Application to cylindrical fibers
In Part I of this paper, we presented a general homogenization framework for determining the overall behavior, the evolution of the underlying microstructure, and the possible onset of macroscopic instabilities in fiber-reinforced elastomers subjected to finite deformations. In this work, we make use of this framework to generate specific results for general plane-strain loading of elastomers r...
متن کاملEffects of microstructure on flow properties of fibrous porous media at moderate Reynolds number.
In this study, effects of microstructure on the viscous permeability and Forchheimer coefficient of monodispersed fibers are investigated. The porous material is represented by a unit cell which is assumed to be repeated throughout the medium. Based on the orientation of the fibers in the space, fibrous media are divided into three categories: one-, two-, and three-directional (1D, 2D, and 3D) ...
متن کاملEvaluation of Biaxial Mechanical Properties of Aortic Media Based on the Lamellar Microstructure
Evaluation of the mechanical properties of arterial wall components is necessary for establishing a precise mechanical model applicable in various physiological and pathological conditions, such as remodeling. In this contribution, a new approach for the evaluation of the mechanical properties of aortic media accounting for the lamellar structure is proposed. We assumed aortic media to be compo...
متن کاملUltrashort pulse propagation in air-silica microstructure fiber.
The unique dispersive and nonlinear properties of air-silica microstructure fibers lead to supercontinuum generation at modest pulse energies. We report the results of a comprehensive experimental and numerical study of the initial stages of supercontinuum generation. The influence of initial peak power on the development of a Raman soliton is quantified. The role of dispersion on the spectral ...
متن کاملNonlinear Thermo-Mechanical Behaviour Analysis of Activated Composites With Shape Memory Alloy Fibres
General thermo-mechanical behavior of composites reinforced by shape memory alloy fibers is predicted using a three-dimensional analytical micromechanical method to consider the effect of fibers activation. Composite due to the micromechanical method can be exposed to general normal and shear mechanical and thermal loading which cause to activate the shape memory alloy fibers within polymeric m...
